FAO: Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (ACSAM)

The conference (Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, 3-6 February 2026) will bring together stakeholders to collaborate, share knowledge, and drive adoption of sustainable agricultural mechanization solutions. The ACSAM event will help shape supportive policies and build local capacity. Participants who are unable to attend in person can register to participate virtually.

CIGR-EurAgEng World Congress 2026

Our Full Member Prof. Fedro Zazueta (CIGR Secretary General) is pleased to inform the CoB community about the joint event "CIGR–EurAgEng World Congress" which will be held on June 24–26, 2026 at Politecnico of Turin (Italy).

The Congress, themed "Emerging Technologies and Innovation in Biosystems", is a very prestigious event offered jointly by the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR) and the European Society of Agricultural Engineers (EurAgEng).

Pellizzi Prize 2026 (VI Edition): the call is open

The call for applications and all the documents necessary to participate are now available at “Pellizzi Prize” section. The deadline for application is scheduled for April 30, 2026, midnight. News introduced in the VI Edition: one of the three winners will be selected from Candidates based in low-income Countries.

AgTecCollection

Our Full Member Prof. Hermann Auernhammer (Technical University of Munich - TUM; https://www.tum.de/en/) informed us about the possibility of free access to "AgTecCollection in mediaTUM" at https://mediatum.ub.tum.de/agteccollection.
It is a very interesting database concerning Agricultural Machinery and Mechanization sector, very useful for all the people (manufacturers, consultants, experts, students) interested in this topic and with visits from more than 140 Countries worldwide.

Management Committee decisions (10 Oct 2025)

  • Management Committee (MC): 9 MC Members and 2 Past-Presidents (PP) had its first meeting in presence on 10 October in Bari (AGRILEVANTE)
  • Communication activities: to improve communication among MC Members will be created: (i) a chat-group, (ii) a shared folder on cloud. Roberto Oberti will support Marco Fiala (Secretry General) and Patrizia Menicucci (Administrative Secretary, FederUnacoma) in communication task. CoB website and CoB  LinkedIn group must be boosted.
  • CoB Members: 5 Full Members (FM) were deleted, due to their low attendance in past years (excluding the Covid period). 3 Pellizzi Prize 2020 - IV Edition winnners (Christian Birkmann, DEU; Hao Gan, USA; Xin Zhang, USA), after five years hosted in CoB, were confirmed as FM. Welcome and congratulations to all these young new Members! Currently, CoB  Members are 103 (11 MC, 3 PP, 82 FM, 4 Pellizzi Prize 2024 Winners), representing 29 Countries, 7 Federations/Associations, 16 Organizations. Efforts to identify potential new Members, particularly in world areas currently not represented.
  • Internal Rules: no changes have been made to the current text.
  • 35th CoB Members' Meeting: will be held in Bologna (13-14 November, 2026), in occasion of “EIMA International” exhibition. Topics: Session 1: Maechanization for Emerging Countries; Session2: Conservative Soil Tillage, (iii) Special Mechanization (sector to be defined).
  • Study Group (SGR): SGR2 Dissemination was dismissed. Giuseppe Gavioli, coordinator of SGR5 Collaboration between University and Industry, presented the internal working teams and the SGR aims. SGRs activities and results must be update and disseminate.
  • Pellizzi Prize: the next VI Edition was approved and scheduled for 35th Members' meeting in Bologna. The award "Notice and Forms" will be published up to 31 Jan 2026 and te terms of application is 31 May 2026.

CLUB OF BOLOGNA: A WORLD TASK-FORCE ON THE STRATEGIES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL MECHANISATION
The Club of Bologna is a free association founded by FederUnacoma under the auspices of CIGR and in close collaboration with FAO, UNIDO and Accademia dei Georgofili, with the goal to convene, almost once a year, the highest international experts on mechanization in order to discuss subjects of a pre-eminent importance for the development of the agricultural machinery sector.
